Parliament Street, Harrogate
We were commissioned by Lateral Property Ventures Ltd to carry out Civil and Structural Engineering services for the refurbishment of a circa 50-year-old concrete frame in Harrogate town centre.
An initial feasibility exercise was carried out in conjunction with the Architect, to establish principles on which areas of the existing frame could be removed without impacting on the stability and integrity of the existing structure, which supported an additional six storeys of concrete framed apartments above.
The scope of refurbishment included removal of areas of concrete floors, walls and beams, additional strengthening steelwork and several ancillary structures including plantrooms and external terrace areas. Throughout construction, we produced detailed sequence of works for the Contractor to ensure the existing structure was not compromised. Construction was completed in Summer 2014.
Phase 2 involved retention of the exiting Victorian Facades with extensive refurbishment and new build to create 5 retail and restaurant units. Construction work was completed in 2017.
